Senior Accountant Position
Duties include: Plan, assist and perform external audits and reviews in accordance with GAAP and Governmental requirements. Reconcile client accounts, obtain supporting documentation, make necessary adjustments, and prepare accurate financial statements. Prepare and index work documents in accordance with The ALG Group's Standard Operating Procedures. Understand and apply accounting and tax principals, including cash versus accrual methods of accounting. Support senior accountants. Analyze IRS notices and draft responses under supervision of a senior staff member. Perform self-review of all work before submitting it for review. Accurately perform data entry tasks and participate in relevant administrative projects. Assist with examining audit records and income statements. Recognize potential audit issues or unusual relationships from the analysis of complex financial statements and communicate them to the team. Identify gaps, deficiencies or non-compliance in business procedures, processes or systems, and communicate appropriate remedial action.

This position requires a Master's degree in Business Administration or Accounting. CPA License required.

What We're Looking For:

The ALG Group is searching for a dedicated, thoughtful CPA to join our team. Your duties would include, but not be limited to, preparing financial statements, assisting with client accounts, assisting with tax preparation for individuals and small businesses, as well as other financial and tax planning activities. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, organized, and has excellent problem-solving skills. Job Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile client accounts, obtain supporting documentation, make necessary adjustments, and prepare accurate financial statements.
  • Understand and apply accounting and tax principals, including cash versus accrual methods of accounting.
  • Plan, assist and perform external audits and reviews in accordance with GAAP and Governmental requirements.
  • Prepare and index work documents in accordance with The ALG Group’s Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Support senior accountants
  • Prepare routine correspondence to clients and a professional demeanor in meeting with clients.
  • Analyze IRS notices and draft responses under supervision of a senior staff member.
  • Perform self-review of all work before submitting it for review.
  • Accurately perform data entry tasks and participate in relevant administrative projects.

Job Qualifications:

  • CPA preferred
  • B.S. in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration
  • 1-5 years of accounting-related experience
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting standards.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to learn new computer software and adapt to changing technology.
  • Highly organized and excellent at time management.
  • Expertise with QuickBooks and various other standard accounting services.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically about complex accounting and tax preparation issues, leading to thoughtful recommendations and action plans.
  • Multi-tasker who can work on independent projects and team projects concurrently.
  • Motivated to establish long term relationships with existing and potential clients.
  • Ability to collaborate with peers and staff at all levels.
  • Comfortable asking questions when necessary.
